PEKIN ~ James Richard “Jim” Landrith, 88, of Pekin, passed away at 2 a.m. Friday, June 9, 2017 at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria.

Born May 4, 1929 in Pekin to Thomas and Lydia (Davis) Landrith, he married Hazel Bea Lutz on February 24, 1951 in Pekin.  She survives.

Also surviving are two sons, James Arthur (Sonia) Landrith of Vitoria, Brazil and William Joseph (Vickie) Landrith of Pekin; nine grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; one son-in-law, David Callahan of Pekin; two sisters, Minnie (Dean) McKinney of Coal City and Mary Lou (Phillip) Wilcox of Columbus, Ohio; one brother, Earl Landrith of Austin, Texas; and one half-brother, William Landrith of Springfield.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a stillborn son, Richard Allen; one daughter, Karol Callahan; one grandson, Andrew Callahan; one sister, Ella Mae Lee; and two brothers, Tom Landrith and Phillip Landrith.

Jim had served in the United States Army.

He was a member of the former Midway Mennonite Church.

Jim worked for the American Distillery for 27 ½ years, retiring in 1990.  He then worked for Caterpillar, Inc. and later as a certified nurse’s aide for Pekin ProCare.

He enjoyed bowling, softball and playing cards.  He also was an avid fan of the Chicago Bulls and Chicago Cubs

His memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Friday, June 30, 2017 at Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin.  Pastor John Plunkett will officiate.  Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.  Burial of cremated remains will be at Spring Lake Cemetery in Manito, where military honors will be provided by the United States Army and the Tazewell Area Ceremonial Team.

Memorial contributions may be given to a charity of the donor’s choice.
