A nice nugget from the Arab American Institute, an organization that I am proud to have been on the same side with regarding many issues and coalitions in defense of the Bill of Rights:
While politicians are often blamed for the American people's cynicism about politics, there's no doubt that the media deserves a fair share of the blame. Barely a week after announcing his interest in a presidential campaign, Senator Barack Obama (D-IL) is already the victim of a groundless smear campaign. Countdown already reported attacks on the senator's middle name (Hussein), but the latest baseless charge is that, while living in Indonesia from 1967 to 1971 (yes, almost 40 years ago), he attended a "radical Muslim school." Although the unsourced and unsubstantiated story was originally reported by the Washington Times-owned Insight magazine, the bogus story soon appeared on Fox News and the New York Post. CNN soon aired a report debunking the rumor, which didn't stop its resident fear-monger Glenn Beck from adding his voice to the irresponsible chorus.
Of course, some of my conservative acquaintances don't care about the facts. To them, Obama is a Democrat who has a funny sounding name, so that automatically makes him a Muslim terrorist – regardless of his actual conduct and religious beliefs. Remember children, never let the facts get in the way of a good old fashioned Klan style fear campaign. The AAI's website is here.
There are so many valid reasons to oppose Obama\’s politics. When you have to resort to fear-mongering instead of a rational debate, that just shows you\’ve got nothing but evil up your sleeve.

Exactly! While I will not be voting for the Senator, I can find plenty of real reasons to put my vote in a different box without making shit up.
