Stop It Already!

I've been following the faux outrage of the GOP following Senator Kerry's remarks on intellectual laziness.  Let's clear the air here folks.

The snippet of audio being pimped about by neo-cons, ditto-heads, GOP hacks, and chickenhawks alike (presented as evidence that Kerry was calling the troops stupid) was part of a longer talk and taken completely out of context (intentionally).  Kerry was referring to the president’s failure to use HIS educational opportunities as a cause for the mismanagement of this war.  He was not talking about the men and women serving in Iraq – even Bill O’Reilly got that right and stated such.  Kerry was talking about the asshole in charge of this debacle getting us collectively stuck in Iraq, not the individual men and women serving there now.  There is a difference.

It was a convoluted and roundabout way of calling Bush a lazy idiot.

And like Kerry – I’ve worn a uniform in service to this nation.  What I find reprehensible and disgusting are chickenhawk cowards like Tony Snow acting like they are the sworn protectors of America’s military veterans (while simultaneously promoting big government wars of intervention) and elitist playboys who hid out in Texas and Alabama while others were bleeding and dying painting themselves as the protectors and voice of America’s veterans.

Fuck that.  And a can of saints.

As a libertarian, I have many areas of disagreement with Senator Kerry, as I do with President Bush.  One thing I will not abide are intentional distortions and outright lies about the man's sentiments towards us veterans.

And I say all the above as a Marine Corps veteran of the first Gulf War (another big government adventure in interventionism).

Please. Shut. Up. Already.

You don't speak for this libertarian veteran.

  1. Here, here and well said. I saw that the Today Show distorted the quote this morning and I was outraged, especially after I\’d seen Kerry\’s clip explaining the misquote last night!

This experience has also made it clear that if you don\’t pay attention in school you can also succeed in journalism.
