Vera ShultsVera Mae Shults, 70, of Pleasant View died at 5:18 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 5, 2003, at her home.

She was born June 14, 1932, in Fulton County, a daughter of Toler and Ethel White Lutz. She married Ross Shults on Oct. 24, 1948, in Jacksonville. He died April 25, 1989.

She also was preceded in death by her father; one daughter, Ethel Shults; one brother; and one sister.

Surviving are her mother of Vermont; five sons, James (and Sheary) of Rushville, Jerry (and Julie) of Abingdon, Daniel (and Marcia) of Rushville, Jeffrey (and Sandy) of Sandwich and Joshua (and Jalaine) of Pleasant View; one daughter, Joy Fewkes of Pleasant View; three brothers, Dale (and Nancy) Lutz, Charles (and Bonita) Lutz and Donald (and Rose) Lutz, all of Vermont; three sisters, Ivy (and Leonard) Watson of Salem, Mo., Hazel “Bea” (and James) Landrith of Pekin and Eleanor Williammee of Rushville; 20 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; and one great-greatgranddaughter.

She was a licensed practical nurse at several area nursing homes for more than 50 years before retiring.

Cremation has been accorded. There will be no services or visitation. Burial of ashes will be in Vermont Cemetery at a later date. Worthington Funeral Home in Rushville is in charge of arrangements.
