Virginia RivierePEKIN – Virginia May Riviere, 79, formerly of 335 Illinois St., died at 8:10 p.m. Sunday, June 3, 2001, at Pekin Hospital.Born Jan. 2, 1922, in Spring Lake Township, Tazewell County, to Thomas McKinley and Minnie May Ehrheart Landrith, she married Jules Riviere on Dec. 19, 1936, in St. Louis. He died April 29, 1986, in Pekin.

She also was preceded in death by one daughter, Norma Marrie Williams on Dec. 31, 1981; two sisters; five brothers; and one half brother.Surviving are one son, Arthur of Pekin; one daughter, Joyce Diggs of Pekin; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and two great-greatgrandchildren.She worked as a cashier at Walgreen’s at Pekin Mall for more than 10 years, retiring Jan. 1, 1987. Before that, she worked as a cashier at Arnett’s Grocery, Kitchell’s Grocery and Eagle Food Center.She was a member of Grace United Methodist Church.Services will be at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday at PrestonHanley Funeral Home, Pekin Chapel. The Rev. Gaylord Buss will officiate. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 tonight at the funeral home. Burial will be in Lakeview Cemetery.Memorials may be made to her church.
