Advocacy Letter: Pass the Dream and Promise Act

October 4, 2026

The Honorable Mark Warner
The Honorable Tim Kaine
The Honorable Eugene Vindman

Dear Senators Warner and Kaine and Representative Vindman,

Our immigration system is broken. President Trump’s mass deportation agenda has resulted in ICE shooting people in the streets, abusing countless immigrants in detention centers, and terrorizing our neighborhoods. Meanwhile, millions of people who are part of American communities – raising families, paying taxes, and contributing to the economic and cultural vibrancy of our towns – face the threat of deportation while they’re denied any path to legal protection or becoming citizens. As your constituent, I’m calling on you to sign the discharge petition for the Dream and Promise Act and commit to overhauling our broken, inhumane immigration system.

Empty promises and half measures aren’t enough when lives are on the line. The Dream and Promise Act is a real step towards a vision of a functional immigration system – where long-term residents can live, work, and pursue citizenship without fear. For Dreamers who came to this country as children and Temporary Protected Status holders who arrived fleeing danger, this bill is a promise of legal protection from violence and a recognition that they deserve the rights and protections of citizenship.

Our broken immigration system has created far too much pain, heartache, and tragedy. I’m urging you to be part of the solution by supporting the Dream and Promise Act today.

Sincerely,

James Landrith
Woodbridge, VA
