Your Triggers
Whenever there is a discussion of trauma and triggers online, a cabal of internet tough guys and conservative mommies come screaming in to mock the idea of giving a shit about other people’s traumas. Seriously, empathy is somehow controversial and hurting people is celebrated.
Newsflash: No one is forcing you to use trigger warnings. PERIOD. Unfortunately, no discussion of triggers is free of these sociopathic tough guys and the conservative mommy patrol who are deathly afraid of their baby boys showing an ounce of non-aggressive emotion. For a group of folks who truly believe that “your triggers are your problem” they sure seem to be obsessed with dominating discussions of TRAUMA TRIGGERS. Really. It is bizarre. They RUSH in to whine about people VOLUNTARILY using trigger warnings. They are scared of empathy.
Why are ya’ll so obsessed with how trauma survivors navigate the world? Why do you desperately need to insert yourselves in discussions of our experiences? Who hurt you? You can tell us.
