I have never fit into the “perfect” or “model” victim category. No one fits into that box. Stop looking for the perfect victim. They don’t exist. Really. Over the years:
- I’ve been shamed for not assaulting my female rapist while she was on top of me.
- I was shamed for not speaking out immediately.
- I was shamed for waiting 17 years to talk about it.
- I was shamed for talking about it at all after 17 years.
- I was shamed for drinking under age.
- I was shamed because she bought me drinks.
- I was shamed for having an erection in the first place.
- I was shamed for maintaining an erection while she raped me.
- I was shamed for, well, fucking everything.
