MR. MST Briefs Military Sexual Assault Prevention Caucus on Male Survivor Related Issues
Washington, DC – October 7, 2015 – Men Recovering from Military Sexual Assault officers, accompanied by several male survivors, met with the Military Sexual Assault Prevention Caucus on Wednesday, October 7, 2015 at 2:00 pm. MR. MST and the male survivors discussed male survivor specific issues with regard to recovery resources for veterans and active duty, military justice and discharge concerns.
MR. MST President Brian Lewis stated, “We are very appreciative of Ms. Tsongas and Mr. Turner for taking an interest in issues specific to male survivors of military sexual trauma. The leadership displayed today by the House Military Sexual Assault Prevention Caucus will hopefully start serious conversations within DoD and VA about how to best address male survivors.”
MR. MST looks forward to working further with Representatives Tsongas and Turner and the Military Sexual Assault Prevention Caucus on legislation to assist survivors of military sexual trauma and prevention efforts to protect current service members.
About Men Recovering from Military Sexual Trauma: MR. MST seeks to empower male survivors and their allies and raise awareness of male survivors of sexual crimes in the military.
