PEKIN ~ Andrew Lee Callahan, 33, of Pekin, passed away at 8:39 p.m. Sunday, May 24, 2015 at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria.

He was born November 10, 1981 in Peoria to David Lee and Karol Ann (Landrith) Callahan. He was preceded in death by his mother on April 11, 2005. He also was preceded him in death by his paternal grandfather, Donald Callahan.

Surviving are his father, David Callahan of Pekin; paternal grandmother, Julia Gay of Jacksonville, FL; maternal grandparents, James R. and Hazel “Bea” Landrith of Pekin; two sisters, Holly A. Callahan and Melody L. (Travis) Willock, both of Pekin; and several aunts and uncles.

A 2000 graduate from Pekin Community High School, Andrew received hisAssociates Degree from Illinois Central College in 2002. He worked at various area Kroger Stores, including becoming the produce manager in Peoria. Andrew returned to ICC and received his Truck Driving Certification in 2013. He traveled the country while driving over the road for Maverick Trucking.

He enjoyed spending time with family, watching movies, bowling, playing cards and video games. He also enjoyed attending Peoria Chiefs baseball games, and camping in the family RV.

His friendly smile and unique laughter always spread joy to everyone. Selfless and kind, Andrew cherished family above anything else, especially the Friday evening family dinners.

Andrew was a member of First United Methodist Church in Pekin.

His funeral will be at 10:30 a.m Saturday, May 30, 2015 at First United Methodist Church in Pekin. The Rev. James C. McClarey will officiate. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, May 29, 2015 at Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin. Additional visitation will from 9:30 to 10:15 a.m. at his church. Burial will be at Lakeview Cemetery in Pekin.
