A Little Bit of Traction

I’ve read many things to this tune in recent days following the claim by actor Shia LaBeouf that he was raped by a woman during his #IAMSORRY performance art show. Many people seem flabbergasted at the notion of a man being raped by a woman… Because a man can never have a bad sexual experience, and a woman could never be a sexual predator… right?! That’s wrong folks.

This is a bit of traction on an issue I’ve worked on since 2008. This one references an older article I wrote for GMP about my own experience. I had a nice interaction with the author today who stated that my experience, “greatly influenced this article and my beliefs about sexual violence”. At least a few people are paying attention.
If you don’t like Shia, that’s fine. However, that is ENTIRELY SEPARATE from the issue being discussed.

  1. Whatever other issues he may be dealing with it doesn’t invalidate his experience or justify his rape. It’s brave of you both to speak out about what happened to you. You’re probably saving the lives of boys and men by doing this.
