MORTON – John R. Hatton, 88, of 190 E. Queenwood Road, Morton, formerly of Deer Creek, died at 7:25 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 10, 2008, at Morton Villa Care Center.

He was born March 14, 1919, in Dale, Ill., to John C. and Mary (Carey) Hatton. He married Virginia Phillips on Nov. 12, 1960, in Danville. She preceded him in death on June 14, 2001.

Surviving are two sons, Roger (and Lydia) Hatton of Orlando, Fla., and Joseph (and Jennifer) Hatton of St. Louis, Mo.; and one grandson, Luke Hatton of St. Louis.

He was an Army veteran.

John worked at Caterpillar Inc. in East Peoria, retiring in 1987 as a line inspector in assembly.

He was a member of the Deer Creek United Methodist Church; Deer Creek American Legion Post 1276; and Morton Masonic Lodge 352 AF & AM.

He was a volunteer driver for We Care Inc. in Morton.

Services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, Jan. 14, 2008, at his church, with the Rev. James Reynolds officiating. Visitation will be from 1:30 to 2 p.m. Monday at the church. Cremation will be accorded.

Ludwig Mortuary in Morton is handling arrangements.
