Quiet Nights

Aside from similar political perspectives and military backgrounds, Ron Bronson and I seem to share similar musical tastes. That’s the beauty of the blogosphere. I get to find out interesting things I didn’t know about people I’ve known for several years.

I have a great love for bands like The Sundays. This group, The Innocence Mission is quite good and reminds much of them, but has their own minimalist adult alt appeal. From what I’ve heard, all their CDs are tasty enough to play in the background – but not while driving

Reflection music, especially of late is a good thing.

They’re an interesting band – similar to the Sundays. I bought their self-titled debut release (in 1989 or 1990) on an impulse after hearing it played at the Record Bar in Jacksonville, NC. Its real “clear your head” music.

I spent many a quiet evening in the barracks (too broke to hit the clubs) reading, writing and listening to Innocence Mission, the Sundays, Stevie Nicks, Joni Mitchell, Suzanne Vega with a little Lone Justice, the Smiths and Morrissey thrown in for good measure, among others (at least on the quiet nights).

Good choice Ron. Now I know which old cassettes are going to find their way into my car for the next week…
