Keeping Track of the Commission

Katherine Newell Bierman of the National Asian Pacific American Legal Consortium notified me of the following resource for civil liberties advocates to follow the progress of government implementation of the recommendations of the 9/11 Commission:

As you are probably already aware, Congress is currently drafting bills that implement the 9/11 Commission recommendations. In both houses of Congress, lawmakers are considering provisions that implicate national security, intelligence reorganization, immigration, civil liberties, human rights, surveillance and privacy. Once both houses agree on legislation, conferees will be selected who will work to reconcile the two versions.

Please note that these are rapidly changing events, and many advocacy organizations are developing materials and information to assist advocates who wish to respond. To help advocates keep track of this process, we are collecting materials and action alerts at http://www.rightsworkinggroup.org/
