More Out of Control Cops

Harris County jackboots have raided a man for the crime of growing hibiscus:

Evidently, some well-meaning but horticulturally challenged citizen turned Davis in. Davis said the team of narcotics officers combed his house for about an hour, at one point discussing whether red and gold bamboo growing in his window might be marijuana. They also asked what he did with the watermelons and cantaloupes growing in his back yard.

“What would I do with them?” Davis said.

So after failing to find pot, these geniuses of law enforcement and horticulture then question him about watermelons and cantaloupes? I’m going to have to assume that all murders, rapes, assaults and child molestations in Harris County have recently been solved. If that is the case, then I congratulate these officers for eliminating all violent crime in their jurisidiction.

Bravo.

Excellent.

Thug bastards.

  1. But of course as soon as you are a victim of a crime, who is the first person you will call for help? Yep you guessed it right… those horrible “thugs”.

  2. Which ones should I call? The one who pulled my wife and I over and demanded to know where I was taking her because we have different complexions, and then lied three times about the reason for the traffic stop? Or how about the ones who hand out bullshit tickets every time quota deadlines approach? Or perhaps the ones who shoot sleeping senior citizens in the back. Or the ones who shove plungers up people’s asses?

Tony, I certainly hope that your colleagues adhere to the Constitution on the St. Joseph Police Dept. These particular cops had absolutely no right to demand what this man was going to do with his watermelons and canteloupes. Further, a free society has nothing to fear from this man’s horticultural interests.

And you know it. There is a big difference between a police officer handling a violent crime/theft and a police officer demanding information on what a citizen plans to do with his watermelons.

As the grandson of a former Peoria County Deputy Sheriff, slain in an armed robbery by two REAL criminals, I have no sympathy for cops who piddle away my money on bullshit traffic stops, illegal searches, and unnecessary violations of civil liberties. There are real criminals out there. Two of them killed my grandfather (one is still in jail, the other released so we can make more room for pot smokers). And by the way, he wasn’t killed over cantaloupes, watermelons and hibiscus.

    Give me a frigging break.
