The Honorable James P. Moran
U.S House of Representatives
2239 Rayburn House Office Building
Washington, DC 20515-4608

I am writing to urge you to support H.R. 4600, the “Junk Fax Protection Act of 2004.” This is a balanced piece of bi-partisan legislation that would restore the “established business relationship” exception to the general prohibition on sending unsolicited commercial or advertising faxes. Last year, the FCC eliminated this exception from its regulations in spite of the fact that it has worked well for a decade.

Despite the prevalence of email, the facsimile remains a vital form of business communications, particularly for small businesses, including many community banks. The legislation would not change the law on junk faxes, which still are illegal.

Please vote in favor of H.R. 4600, and help maintain an established, appropriate means of regular business communications.

Sincerely,

James Landrith
