Michelle Maitre of The Oakland Tribune on Battle heating up over anti-race box proposition:
The battle over a ballot measure that would bar the state from collecting racial information heated up Tuesday.
A new poll shows support for the measure has dipped slightly and a cadre of political organizations announced they intend to file a civil suit against the campaign to force disclosure of political donors.
“By law, California voters are entitled to know who is funding Proposition 54,” said Jim Knox, executive director of California Common Cause, one of six organizations that filed a notice of intent to file civil action with the Fair Political Practices Commission. The filing is a required precursor to a lawsuit, Knox said.
