U.S House of Representatives

Dear Representative Moran:

As a former Marine with six years of active duty service and six years of reserve service I am appalled at the behaviour of the civilian leaders in the Administration. Revelation after revelation has revealed that the ‘evidence’ promoted by this Administration for the recent war on Iraq was either forged, exaggerated or just plain made up in some cases. Nearly 250 military men and women have died and 1000 have been wounded, many with permanent injuries. The arrogance with which the Administration has practiced war has led to unnecessary American military and Iraqi civilian deaths. I’m asking you as a former Marine to hold the civilian leadership accountable for these deaths.

Please pledge to support and vote for an independent, bipartisan commission to investigate the distortion of Iraq intelligence, by co-sponsoring Rep. Waxman’s bill on this issue. The investigation should include open hearings with testimony from government and outside witnesses that conclude with an unclassified report to the American people.

A President may make no more important decision than whether or not to take a country to war. If Bush or his officials deceived the American public to create support for the Iraq war, he needs to be held accountable.

Sincerely,

James Landrith
