Victim Disarmament, Pentagon Style

Tyler Marshall of the Los Angeles Times on Search prompts rioting in Iraq:

In the third consecutive day of Iraqi violence against US military occupation, residents enraged over house-to-house searches in this western town ransacked the police station, stoned US armored military vehicles, and set police cars on fire yesterday.

With a mob still roaming the streets at dusk, it was impossible to determine what had triggered the riot. But in a series of chaotic interviews laced with anti-American rage and threats of vengeance, residents said the problems began when police assisted the US troops in searching homes for weapons.

How better to liberate the Iraqi population than by leaving them disarmed and easy prey for a future tyrant or common street thugs? Great plan G.W.
