Movie Title?

I need some help. I'm trying to remember the title of a movie I rented in 1992 or 1993. There were 2 main characters – a children's book author and an interrogator/torturer. The basic premise of the movie revolved around the interrogator questioning and torturing the author about her book in an empty room. The author had written a children's book, but the interrogator kept claiming it was "subversive" and wanted her to denounce the work. The movie left an impression on me that I carry still today and I'd like to add it to my home collection. I don't remember the names of the actors or anything else, other than the plot. Internet searches have been unhelpful. Anyone got an idea?
