BASE CLOSURE COMMISSION ANNOUNCES SCHEDULE OF MARCH HEARINGS
Opening session March 1 to hear Secretary Perry, General Shali
WASHINGTON, DC, February 24, 1995 – The Defense Base Closure and Realignment Commission will hold eight hearings in Washington, DC, in the first two weeks of March as it begins its evaluation of the Defense Department’s recommendations to close and realign domestic military installations.
The opening hearing will begin at 9 a.m., Wednesday. March 1. 1995. in Room 106 in the Dirksen Senate Office Buildina. At the morning meeting, the commission will hear testimony from Secretary of Defense William Perry and Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff General John Shalikashvili. At the afternoon hearing, which begins at 1 :30 p.m. in the same room, Assistant Secretary of Defense (Economic Security) Joshua Gotbaum will discuss the overall methodology the Defense Department used in developing its recommendations.
