Apparently, anything goes today. Sitting with my family, avoiding two papers due in my Astronomy and Science Fiction and Fantasy courses, I witnessed the strangest display of animal nonsense I've ever seen. For those who don't know, I live in Northern Virginia. In the area near my townhouse, we have tons of squirrels – gray, brown and black. A gray squirrel and a black squirrel were hanging out behind my townhouse. After rooting around in the leaves for a while, one jumped on the other and it was on.
The squirrels would alternately climb the trees about two feet or so, when the other squirrel would follow behind and grab the first squirrel with its front legs and pull it off the tree as they both fell to the ground. Then the match would continue on the ground until one of the combatants scampered up a tree for a few feet. Then – another body slam and more wrestling on the ground. Then up the tree, and so on.
This silliness went on for over 20 minutes. Now, I've seen animals wrestle and play before, but somehow this was a little different. I look forward to their next match. It was better than anything on television today.
