Grover Norquist's organization – Americans for Tax Reform sent out an alert on Monday regarding upcoming appropriations bills. An excerpt from their grassroots letter to Congress on this topic is below:

In the next few weeks, Congress will take up the 13 annual appropriations bills needed to fund the government for the next fiscal year. First on their list will be the mammoth Education/Labor/HHS bill.

This section of the federal budget has ballooned over the last eight years. Since 1996, Department of Health and Human Services funding has increased 96%, and Department of Education funding has increased a whopping 132%. In the same time, even with the current war expenses, Department of Defense spending has increased “only” 48%.
