Ally Failures

As part of my recurring male survivor class, I recently started talking about the difference between activism and advocacy. For male survivors, incompetence among activists is a frequent source of revictimization and victim-shaming. Soooo many activists are toxic, ignorant and smug when it comes to talking about or working with male victims. They don’t know what they don’t know and often could care less to learn.

Having a loud voice and a bully pulpit on the internet =/= competent advocacy.
