Okay. I started working on this book about 5 or 6 years ago or so and had to shelve it (pun intended) due to working 2 full-time jobs, 1 in workforce development for a TANF related program, 2 as a senior manager for a national sexual assault hotline for the military. Following that, I took on management of a large, understaffed sexual assault response program for the military. Things are starting to calm down on a bit on the work side, so I can actually breathe a bit on my off days.
So, this book will simply be a collection of mostly previously published commentaries, essays and articles I’ve published elsewhere along with some new content. It will not be stats heavy or full of condescending academic takes on the survivor experience.
I am the survivor writing it. I don’t need someone else to fucking interpret it for me. That is one of the problems with being a survivor while working in this field – too many alleged allies who want to speak for you while not really listening to you.
No, I don’t know when it will be published. Not until I’m happy with it.
Anyway, I am officially kicking this thing off again. Yay?
