Impacts and Outcomes
One of the most surprising outcomes of my sexual violence activism and advocacy work has been academic and media recognition of that work. One unexpected example was the inclusion of my sexual assault advocacy in Wikipedia entries, textbooks, and academic research papers. Early on, there were activists who didn’t want me talking about this topic. Some still don’t want it mentioned. The excerpt below is from one of the Wikipedia entries on sexual assault. The impact is validation of the hard work put in over many years. I don’t regret an ounce of effort. This work helped to move the needle on discussing female predation. I paid a price to do it. When you stop listening to the critics, you just might find that you’ve accomplished something interesting.
