#SAAPM In 2013, my story was covered by CNN. That year, it was one of the top 10 stories in that section on the website. The story was shared tens of thousands of times and quoted in books, articles and Wikipedia. Nearly a decade later, it is still quoted and referenced often.
One unfortunate side effect of major media coverage are trolls, haters and stalkers. My story on CNN quickly attracted several thousand negative comments. Like most major media organizations, CNN took zero responsibility for the behavior of commenters. While CNN finally removed commenting from their stories, so many media outlets continue to take zero responsibility. It is time for that to change. Survivors deserve better when sharing our stories.
