I was recently asked why I care so much about the Starbucks Hates the Troops Lie that is constantly being circulated.
That is an easy question to answer.
I care – because there are enough real problems in the world without making up more and rallying thousands to your cause on the basis of a lie.
I care – because when I was standing up before television cameras with Members of Congress and several other veterans asking for better NBC gear for the troops BEFORE they were sent to Iraq, none of the "Starbucks Hates the Troops" folks were anywhere to be seen. And they are still silent.
I care – because now, with so many units lacking adequate body and vehicle armor, the same folks are nowhere to be found.
I care – because with our VA hospitals falling into disrepair and incredibly understaffed – they are still nowhere to be found.
But they have time to spread bullshit all over the internet and use the name of the Corps in the process.
After receiving this "Starbucks vs. Corps" email about 800 times, I've had enough.
The folks spreading this lie don't give a damn about the substantive issues, but are quite happy to spend their time spreading bullshit while calling it "support for the troops."
That, my friends, is why I care. And I've had enough.
