Blogging and website management has been light over the last three weeks – for good reason.
Tuesday, February 22 marked my return to the health care industry, this time as a member of the private sector, rather than as a trade association staffer. I just left America's Community Bankers after 7 years in the government relations department. Prior to that, I spent six years in the USMC, worked as an associate analyst on the 1995 round of the Defense Base Closure and Realignment Commission, in the federal affairs department at the Health Insurance Association of America and at the Federation of American Hospitals under the leadership of Tom Scully.
On February 22nd, I began employment for a national hospital emergency room management company. It is interesting work and a change from living and breathing government relations in trade association lalaland. Working in Northern Virginia and being closer to home is excellent. Being home before dark is another plus, on top of not crossing the Potomac everyday.
I can get used to this.
