Folks, I’ve been on the National Marrow Donor Registry since January 1997. While it only took a few minutes out of my life, it may one day save someone else’s life. If you aren’t on the registry, please consider joining. See the forwarded message from Mavin Foundation for a marrow drive in the Seattle area. If you aren’t in the Seattle area, visit http://www.marrow.org for details on how to register.

Right now, thousands of people with life-threatening diseases like leukemia are waiting for marrow or stem cell transplants–procedures that may be their only chance for survival.
Some of these patients have a genetically matched family member who can donate marrow for them. However, about 70 percent do not.
These patients’ lives depend on finding someone with a compatible tissue type–often within their own ethnic group–who is willing to donate marrow or stem cells.
You can help!
There is a critical need for more volunteer donors. Many people cannot find a compatible match. A large, ethnically diverse group of prospective donors will give more patients a chance of survival. Read More
