I’m against marriage outside of one’s species

Many of the people who are so upset about same-sex marriage are the same ones who used to insist that spouses be more alike.
In my youth, for example, you were supposed to marry somebody in the same church. That was because our town was too small and too far north to have any African Americans and the only thing we had to be bigoted about was religion.
It was bad enough when people got upset about a Protestant and a Catholic getting married, but I can remember when one of my friends married a Methodist. His folks were sick about it because he was a Baptist.
It wasn't really that long ago that I would have been in violation of the law for my marriage in the state I currently reside.
