Notice the governor's Owell-speak. By advocating that we stop dividing people up by "races", we are now accused of dividing people on "race." I would call him an idiot, but that would be an insult to idiots everywhere.

The governor took aim at the recall campaign itself, saying "it's expensive. It's undemocratic. It's a bad precedent, and it almost certainly will breed more recalls." He also sought to engender fear of a Republican-led state.
He labeled Proposition 54, the Racial Privacy Initiative on the same ballot, as a "Republican effort to divide Californians on race." Davis also drew in the Bush administration, saying it "spends it's time peering into our bedrooms, our homes, our libraries."
