Six Million Dollar Leg

CBC News on Bionic leg a step up, amputee says:

A robotics company has created a bionic limb that allows an amputee to walk and climb stairs with natural motion.

With a conventional prosthesis, the amputee must do all the work. To climb stairs, for example, the fit leg goes up first and the prosthesis trails behind. The extra work can be tiring.

My hat is off to those who created this wonderful technology. My only fear is that when the product hits the U.S. market, the regulatory nanny squad will cause unnecessary delays, driving up the cost of distribution, in turn cheating many amputees out of months or even years of greater mobility.
