In response to Jerry Brito's call for comment on "24", here goes:
All I could think was George Mason is a dead man. If the radiation poisoning didn't kill him, the local cops would for bungling the hell out of that raid and keeping them in the dark about what to expect. At the very least he had a responsibility to inform the officers entering the warehouse with him that it wouldn't be an ordinary raid.
I'm also wondering how big the body count will be for CTU. I'm guessing not that big, a few dozen or so. It didn't look the building had been levelled. And did the files make it to NSA? You bet they did or they're stuck in transit on an external server, just waiting for the IT folks to track them down. Either way, they're out there somewhere and the CTU folks will have access again. If not, then most of the staff will have no purpose during the rest of the season.
Also, when is the Prez going to kick the ass of the NSA guy? He needs it bad. I want to see Palmer give him a serious beatdown. Further, how is Palmer going to placate the detained journalist? An exclusive with some serious disclosure in the final hours perhaps?
Also, I'm interested in seeing how much more trouble stupid blonde girl can get into for the rest of the day. You just know that her drama has barely begun. Also, I want to see Jack do a little ass-kicking on Mr. Domestic Violence in the final hour.
James, thanks for posting! I knew there was a 24 watcher out there!
From the previews it seems like the data was sent to NSA, but it’s encrypted and the original data got blown up. And who has the encryption key? The programmer girl who is in a coma. So CTU’s got a pickle there.
Also, the beauty of 24 is that the good guys have big weakneses — in the last season Palmer had puppet masters that were financing his campaign. It seems like the NSA guy is going to try to blackmail Palmer’s assistant and it wouldn’t surprise me if he could control Palmer somehow, too. I don’t know if you saw last season, but Palmer’s (ex) wife is a bitch and out for revenge, and she still hasn’t shown up yet.
As for the journalist guy, that’s more of the beauty of 24. In any other show you could expect that he’d be released somehow, no problem, because the U.S. gov. wouldn’t ever interfere w/ the press, right? But in this show, with a nuke about to go off, if the guy acts up, I wouldn’t be surprised if they but a bullet in the back of his head and make it seem like an accident.
Can you tell I like this show? -JB
