The Associated Press reports that a Star quarterback accused of rape pleads guilty to three charges.
A star high-school football player was back on the field Friday after he pleaded guilty to rape charges.
David Christopher Raymond, 18, had faced four felony charges, including rape, aggravated sodomy and two counts of child molestation. The charges stemmed from accusations that he forced a 15-year-old girl into having sex in his car in July.
Of course, if he wasn't a star athlete, particularly a high school football player, he'd no longer be on the team, not to mention in jail. I can't see the first chair clarinetist in the high school band getting such a sweet deal. High school football players, after all, must be excused for their illegal actions. Boys will be boys, and besides the girl isn't even a cheerleader.
At least that's the sorry state of affairs in football towns like the one I grew up in.
