Jacob Sallum at Reason, shares my conflicted sense about the defeat of Bob Barr. As I said earlier this week, while he was an enthusiastic Drug Warrior, that nasty side of him was partially offset by his privacy and civil liberties battles. Linder, who defeated him in the primary will most likely return to Congress to continue his silent work on behalf of Drug Warriors. Unfortunately, Linder is not even the part-time civil libertarian that Barr was. Contrary to what the good folks at the LP have been saying, this one seems more like a loss to me.
