Defeated in Primaries – Yahoo! News. While I won't miss Cynthia McKinney one bit, I'm conflicted on Bob Barr. On one hand he sides with the tunnel-vision drug prohibitionists, on the other he was vocally critical of civil liberties rollbacks by the current and previous Adminstrations and was not afraid to piss off fellow Republicans from time to time. He also stepped up to the plate like a man and publicly denounced the Council of Conservative Citizens, unlike cowardly Trent Lott who actually did have an extended relationship with the group over a six year period and tried to lie about it. Barr met with them once, having been fooled by their legitimate sounding name and sent them an angry letter in disgust after hearing their segregationist views. Not a libertarian individual in the bunch (though Barr had his moments), to include Majette and Linder who defeated them in the primaries and will likely win in the general election. (Sigh)
