Things Are Different For You Kid

Charles, my eight year old boy, came to me tonight with his pencil and paper in hand.  Hmm, I’ll bet someone needs help with homework.  He had a list of homonyms and was required to use each in a sentence.  Well, at the time I was upstairs using my laptop to read email and surf the net.  So, being lazy and old, I was not interested in walking up and down three flights of stairs to fetch a dictionary.  So, I fired up the browser and surfed to dictionary.com.

The boy was amazed and said something to the effect of, "I didn’t know you could use the dictionary on the internet."

We’ve come a long way from the days when I used to carry around an old dog-eared and abused copy of Webster’s VestPocket Dictionary around Deer Creek Grade School and Dee-Mack High.  These kids have no clue how cool their present is and how awesome their future is going to become…
