3rd Seat; 1st Row

3rd Seat; 1st Row

Published 2003 in Eternal Portraits (poetry.com)

Looking at her from across the room,
does she know what I’m thinking?
While I detach myself from the occupants of the room,
does she know what I’m thinking?
Does she care?
Sitting here in the safety of my chair,
I don’t have to commit my thoughts to action.
Embarrassment or immaturity is my fear.
Only here, in the safety of my chair,
can I realize that fear.
