The Honorable James P. Moran

Dear Senators Warner and Allen and Representative Moran:
Please oppose all bills designed to regulate grassroots lobbying organizations, specifically S. 1398, S. 2128, H.R. 2412, and H.R. 4575.
My personal comment to you:
For several years, I filed lobbying reports as an employee of several national trade associations. Speaking as a trained employee, I know firsthand how complicated lobbying disclosure reports can be to complete. In addition to the many pages and fields of information required by the report, a significant amount of hours are needed to decipher through correspondence, meeting records and other data in order to ensure accurate disclosure of lobbying activities.
These bills are, at best, a hidden tax on grassroots lobbying organizations and, at worst, an attempt to stifle the First Amendment and protect incumbents.
Please uphold your Oath of Office and protect the Constitution from these brazen attempts to regulate political activism.
Thank you.
Sincerely,
James Landrith
