Letter to the Editor of The Link Regarding Sexism and Mockery of Male Cancer Survivors

Wow, getting cancer and then getting saved from said cancer is privilege?  How can you even look in the mirror after allowing this minimizing, taunting, childish and mean screed to get published on your watch.

The unbelievable disrespect and OUTRIGHT mockery shown to male cancer survivors and their families is simply inexcusable and you cannot possibly apologize enough. Do you realize the damage you've done with this?

This hateful article moved the term offensive to levels I cannot even begin to fathom.  Apologies are meaningless in the face of such childish, callous, and hateful musings directed at cancer survivors and their supporters.

Both of you should resign.  You cannot possibly explain this away with an "oops, my bad."

Nor should you even attempt to insult anyone's intelligence by pretending you really care now. As an editor, you are either clueless, immature or incapable of exercising empathy with regard to your publication of this commentary.

As an editor and publisher, I am not unfamiliar with controversial topics and strongly worded commentaries. That said, if you cannot tell the difference between thought-provoking commentary and sexist, classist, callous, outright mockery of cancer patients, then you are not ready for this responsibility.
