…as any intelligent person knows, you can't argue with a Chicken-Hawk, they will keep changing their stories. Perhaps it is due to too much television; perhaps it's due to Attention Deficit Disorder; perhaps it's just plain stupidity. But, hell, I'm not a medic, how should I know? All I knew is that there were two Chicken-Hawks invading my world and I was beginning to get irritated.

  1. Teaching about War, Choice and Compassion
    Of course, the people who are flown into war have more choice than those who were already there. But regardless of one’s degree of choice to be or not be there, war is hell for all participants. The linked collection includes photos from America’s past war in Vietnam and current war in Iraq. Vietnam ended the same year that I was born. Since then, the United States has been in a series of wars throughout the world. We’ve bombed cities, invaded countries to arrest heads of state, killed hundreds of thousands of people. The United States is in an endless war, as it should. Empires require power through force. As an empire, the United States exists through force. Understanding this is essential if students are to understand their place in the United States. As a teacher, it is not up to me to determine what choices my students will make – but it is my job to make sure that each student sees herself as capable of making her own choices. That???s why I???ve included photos of American soldiers that portray them just as human as do the photos of children caught in the war.
