Big Government Marriage Amendment Fails

Well, the big government conservatives (yes – it is my new mantra) have failed in their bid to expand their power into areas it was never meant to reach. The bid to “protect” marriage by manufacturing more government interference in the process has failed – for now. For years, we’ve been hearing from “small government” conservatives who claim to be all about getting government out of the social reform business so cherished by liberals. How is this nonsense anything but more social reform, via the religious right?

If my conservative friends ever want my vote again this century, they are going to have to learn to stay the Hell out of my personal affairs. Further, it wouldn’t hurt if they ACTUALLY abolished a cabinet department or two. You know – like they’ve been promising for decades. I mean, they now have the Presidency and BOTH Houses of Congress, like they said they needed in order to get the job done. Government expanding marriage amendments to the Constitution are like, kinda sorta the opposite direction and stuff.
