Clean Out Your Closets

For those of you with an extra suit or two to spare:

The First Annual Capitol PurSuit Drive offers an outstanding opportunity to Make a Difference for the disadvantaged and raise the profile of Washington Professionals.

On Wednesday, July 14, from 10am to 2 pm in the Rayburn House Building Foyer, the American League of Lobbyists will host the first annual Capitol PurSuit Drive.

This event is an outstanding opportunity for the Washington, DC government relations community to partner with Members of Congress and the Administration on a project to help get Americans back to work and also present our profession in a very positive light. But we need your help to make it happen!

In partnership with Men’s Wearhouse and Members of Congress, we will be collecting men’s and women’s “gently used” business attire, on hangers, to donate to Americans in crisis who are re-entering the workforce.

Response on Capitol Hill to this innovative new program has been uniformly positive, with Congressional leadership on both sides of the aisle already committing their enthusiastic support.

Now it’s our turn!

So pitch in and join the American League of Lobbyists, Men’s Wearhouse, Members of Congress and their staff to make the Capitol PurSuit Drive a success. Come to the Hill on July 14 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the Rayburn Foyer (Rayburn House Office Building) and bring your extra business attire to help get America back to work!

The Capitol PurSuit Drive represents an outstanding opportunity for us to make a difference in a very concrete way, while highlighting the good work that our community does. Let’s make sure we make the most of it!

Thanks to Patti Jo for sending this information. Also, Amy Phillips has reminded me of the non-profit Dress For Success who does this type of work full-time.

  1. This isn’t a new thing. An organization called “Dress for Success” has been accepting these kinds of donations for years, often to benefit women who have been victims of domestic violence and are now trying to become self-supporting so they can escape the abuse. If you’re not in the DC area and want to donate, they have many local outlets across the country.
