Good Karma

If you find yourself thirsty and near the Farragut West Metro stop (around where I work), check out a new coffee shop called Karma, located at the corner of 19th and Eye Streets (officially 1919 Pennsylvania AVE, NW).

While this is the third tenant to open up in this space in the last six years, Karma has something the past two tenants didn't – style and atmosphere. I previously frequented this location when it was Dean and DeLuca and then later Classic Corner. When Classic Corner closed down last year, I wasn't too pleased with my options – frequent Starbucks more often or walk to Borders for a decent espresso. There is only so much Starbucks you can take and the walk to Borders is only an option if I have more than a few minutes to spare. The coffee at Karma is great, as it was with the last two tenants, but its the atmosphere and the menu that make the difference this time. Karma's owner, Ellie Djavadkhani, is often behind the counter and seems like a genuinely nice person. Like I said, check it out if you get a chance.
