For years the classroom has been the setting for the free expression of ideas, but two weeks ago certain ideas led to two students being taken out of class and grilled by the United States Secret Service.
It happened at Oakland High. The discussion was about the war in Iraq. That's when two students made comments about the President of the United States. While the exact wording is up for debate, the teacher didn't consider it mere criticism, but a direct threat and she called the Secret Service.
Great plan. Start a conversation on the war. Lo and behold, some of the students don't toe the nationalist line. Added bonus! You now get to weed out the students who hold views counter to the Administration. Call the Secret Service without delay! No longer just a mere teacher, you are now a real hero and a true American and defender of lockstep forevermore.
This teacher will undoubtedly receive kudos galore from the jackbooted thugs who call themselves conservatives over at NewsMax and National Review. I, for one, am disgusted to no end at the behaviour of this teacher. Instead of educating, she just instituted her own version of TIPS.
